March 10, 1925- April 20, 2020
U. S. Veteran
Mr. W.B. Jackson of Birmingham, AL went to be with the Lord at the age of 95. He served in the U. S. Navy from September 1943 until June 1946. After working for almost 38 years, Mr. Jackson retired from the Tin Mill at U. S. Steel in Fairfield. He was a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge #452. Mr. Jackson was a faithful member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, where he enjoyed serving as an usher, helping with projects on the property, and ringing the church bell before and after the Sunday morning service.
Mr. Jackson is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse & Gertrude Jackson; his wife of 55 years Mary Jane Jackson; his brothers Winifred E. Jackson and Jesse Jackson, Jr.; his son-in-law Thomas E. Caldwell; and his great-grandchild Sophie Crain.
Mr. Jackson answered to many names- Jack, Dad, Dub, and D-Dad- and never met a stranger. He told the best stories and gave the best hugs. He loved watching Alabama football- in person and on TV, attending gospel singings and dances with Ms. Edna Julian, hunting with his hunting club buddies, being chauffeured by niece Donna Crews to play dominoes on Thursdays, chocolate milkshakes from Chick-fil-A, and spending time with his family. All who knew and loved him will miss him tremendously.
He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Jackson Caldwell; his granddaughters, Amanda Caldwell Beason (Bobby) and Laura Caldwell Crain; his great-grandchildren Andrew Crain, Allison Beason, Sarah Catherine Crain, Emily Beason, and Jackson Crain; his brother Leonard Jackson (Janet); and many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
