William “Billy” Charles Thrasher, Sr., 79, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Wednesday, April 10, 2019. Billy was born on September 14, 1939, to Eula Mae Duckett and Fred Sanders Thrasher, Sr.
Billy was a simple man that never asked for anything but gave all he had to his family. He was a loving husband and devoted father that worked hard, loved racing motorcycles, hunting (and just hangin’ out at the “huntin’” club), and an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan. His faith was just as strong as his marriage and he fiercely loved his wife and children, and later enthusiastically enjoyed his days as not only a grandpa, but a great-grandpa too! Certainly not the least of his loves were his pets and he found so much joy in just being with them while watching Fox News.
He is survived by his two children, William Charles Thrasher, Jr., and Allyson Rhea Thrasher; three grandsons, William Charles III, Christopher Ewing, and Dillon Patrick; four great-grandchildren, Sophia, Lily, Logan, and Lexi; and brother, Michael Bryan Thrasher. He was predeceased in death by his wife of 55 years and the love of his life, Geraldine (Jerri) McCulley Thrasher; and two brothers, Fred Sanders Thrasher, Jr., and John T Thrasher. His funeral service will be held Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home in Pleasant Grove at 1 p.m. with burial in Forest Grove Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. Public visitation will be held one hour prior to service.
