William Charles Gill, Sr

William Charles Gill "Bill", age 92 of Quinton passes away April 28, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his family. Bill was born in Memphis, Tenneessee on February 6, 1934 to the late Lucious Lamar and Alene Robertson Gill as one of 10 children. Early in his adulthood he moved to the Birmingham area and became a commercial painter, a profession he loved and was proud of. Bill was also a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Vietnam era while being stationed in England.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years, Mary Alice Gill; son, Bill Gill Jr. (Sylvia); daughters, Susan Gill & Debby Nowles (Joey); sisters, Vivian Harrison & Daisey Aldinger; 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bill is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Bryan Gill & Ronald Hamilton; sisters, Betty & Carolyn; brothers Neil, Walter, Donald, Raymond and Robert Gill.

Memorial services will be held at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Al and will be announced at a later time.
