William Jerry Gill, 84, of Concord, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at home, surrounded by his family. Jerry was born on April 1, 1942, to Luther and Audie Gill. On October 16, 1968, Jerry married the love of his life, Patricia Duke Gill, and was blessed with 58 years of marriage. Together they had two children, Alan and Kristina. He was a faithful member of the Sylvan Springs Church of Christ and dearly loved his church family.

Jerry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served from 1961 to 1965, but being a Marine remained a part of his identity for a lifetime. He embodied the Marine Corps motto, Semper Fidelis—“Always Faithful.” He was faithful to his country, faithful to his family, and faithful to his God. He was a proud Marine to the end.

Jerry worked in route sales throughout his career, spending the majority of those years self-employed with Sunbeam Bread before retiring in 2004. Jerry’s work ethic was truly exceptional. He worked from daylight until dark and often continued long after. That dedication extended far beyond his career—it defined his life. He was never idle and never content to sit still. He was constantly working on a task, solving a problem, or pursuing a goal. NASCAR, coloring books, westerns, guns, and the river were not just past times but defining attributes to Jerry’s personal life.

Jerry’s life was transformed in 2005 when he was baptized into Christ. His priorities changed, and his service took on a deeper meaning. Though he was often quiet during worship services, God’s Word profoundly shaped his heart and perspective. Jerry was constantly working to know more about God, studying and attending worship at church until physically unable. He knew where he was going—home to heaven, to be with his God and to be reunited with his beloved wife and son.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Audie Gill; his wife, Patricia Gill; his son, Alan Gill; his daughter-in-law, Christine Gill; his half-sisters, Helen “Bea” Betzner (Bill); and Delois Pettus.

He is survived by his daughter, Kristina Maddox (Brian), of Pleasant Grove; four grandchildren, Sydney Morrison (Austin), Alana Everett (Nick), Brody Gill, and Bayley Maddox; and one great-granddaughter, Maddox Ann Morrison.

Visitation will be held at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home on Forest Road in Pleasant Grove on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service immediately following. David Courington will officiate.
