Wanda Willingham Hogan, 92, of Pleasant Grove, Alabama, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, at her son’s home in Buchanan, Georgia. She had lived in Pleasant Grove for 55 years before moving to Buchanan.
Born Wanda Lee Willingham on May 4, 1934, in Flint, Alabama, she was the daughter of Tommie Andrew and Etta Belle Willingham. On December 24, 1955, Wanda and James Elkin Hogan eloped in Iuka, Mississippi. They had three children: Pamela Joy, James Byron, and Jeffrey Scott. Wanda was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various callings throughout her life. She worked for 37 years as a loan officer at Mutual Savings Credit Union in Fairfield, Alabama, before retiring in 1997. A lifelong Alabama fan, Wanda loved to cheer “Roll Tide!”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tommie Andrew Willingham and Etta Belle Young Willingham; her brother, Garland Andrew Willingham; her husband of 51 years, James Elkin Hogan; and her daughter, Pamela Joy (Hogan) Acker.
Wanda is survived by her sons, Byron (Nancy) Hogan and Jeff (Allison) Hogan; sister-in-law, Willodean Blankenship; Beloved grandchildren: Natalie (Jason) Sadler, Olivia (Josh) Butler, Bradley (Hilary) Hogan, Aaron (Grace) Acker, David (Elyse) Hogan, Christopher (Kaylyn) Hogan, Andrew (Laurie) Hogan, Emily (Spencer) Fisher, Tucker Hogan, Harper Hogan, and Dallas Hogan; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and many other dear friends.
Her grandsons Bradley, Aaron, David, Christopher, Andrew, and Tucker will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers: Jason Sadler, Josh Butler, and Spencer Fisher.
The family will receive friends for visitation in the Chapel at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home on Thursday, July 9, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., with the interment immediately afterward.
The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the nursing staff at Tanner Hospice of Carrollton for their compassionate care and service.
