Thomas Joseph Richardson, Jr., age 74, of Adamsville, Al passed away at home on the morning of January 12, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Thomas was an incredible Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and Friend with a quiet strength, old soul wisdom/wit, a rare integrity, a steady presence in the lives of many, a generous spirit, and a sense of humor all his own.

Thomas was a longtime member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, as well as a former Grand Knight.

Thomas was a lifelong, win or lose, Alabama Crimson Tide fan. The decades he spent passing on his passion for Alabama football will be fondly remembered by his sons and grandsons that shared in his game day shenanigans. ROLL TIDE!

In life, Thomas was devoted to his wife, Victoria Lynne Shoemaker Richardson, the love of his life since the age of 17. It has been an unconditional love that spanned over 56 years, and was built on an immense love for each other, mixed with affectionate sarcasm, nitpicking, a profound loyalty, stubbornness, patience, and a bond that has endured every obstacle it's encountered.

He was a proud father to 4 children; his son, Thomas Joseph Richardson III (Brandy); his daughter, Heather Lynne Richardson; his son, Matthew Scott Richardson (Teri); and his daughter, Nicolette Leigh Vining (Stuart). His absence will forever leave a hole in their world.

His most prized title was that of "Papa" to 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; Bethany Styron (Matt); Robbie Short (Kristen Miller); Mikah Richardson (Haley Hallman) and sons, Tucker and Kade; Corrie Joseph Short (Ex. Toni Short) and daughters, Annabelle Brook and Madilyne Jo; Jesse Sterner; Katie Richardson; Elijah Sterner; Raine Richardson (Seamus Trim), Cash Richardson; Emma Vining; and Trenton Vining; all of whom were a source of immense joy and pride in his life.

Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Sr. and Pauline Crabtree Richardson; Angel Babies Richardson; In-laws, Jessie and Mavis Shoemaker; Sister-in-law, Gilda Denny; Brother-in-law, Jim DIckerson; a nephew, Jessie Dickerson; his best friend, Jerome "JC" Bradley; and his lifelong friend, Terry Jackson.

Thomas also leaves behind his chosen Sister, Linda Dickerson and her sons, Joshua and Jason Dickerson; his 3 sisters, Martha, Paula, and Michael and their children/grandchildren; a special niece, Deidre Collins; 3 special nephews, Kenny Phillips; Jamie and Trevor Butts; as well as his special friends Sammy Owen and Bobby Delander.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no formal services. A private gathering will be held by his immediate family at a later date.

Patterson Forest Grove Funeral Home is honored to serve the Richardson family during their time of bereavement. Expressions of sympathy and condolences may be shared at www.pattersonfuneralhomes.com.
