Thomas Monroe McCay, of Hueytown, passed away August 8, 2021 at the age of 92. He retired from the City of Pleasant Grove as the Chief of Police. He was a US Army and Air Force veteran who served in WW II and the Korean Conflict. His initial retirement was from the City of Pleasant Grove as the Chief of Police. He then retired from Western Supermarkets, after 20 years, as the Loss Prevention Director for all locations. He was a Shriner. He also started a Drug Awareness Ministry for church youths in the community. He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel B. and Mary E. McCay; step-mom, Cora Pennington; brothers, Sam McCay, Jack McCay, James McCay and Otto McCay; and furry friends, Money and Wiggles. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marcele C. McCay; son, Thomas McCay (Judy); daughters, Becky Sims and Mary Beth McCay; step-daughters, Julie Deacy and Vicki Dempsey; grandchildren, Tammy Bennett, Jenny Jones, Alan Sims (Jenny), Lindsay Graves, Vic Deacy (Robin), Vince Deacy (Jessica), Eric Kilgore (Jamie ) and Aaron Watkins; 22 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Saturday, August 14, 2021 from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM with service beginning at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
