She was preceded in death by two infant brothers Julius Warner & Kenneth Lonnie Helms; Grandparents Louisa Daily Howard, Norton Julius & Dollie Mead Helms; Parents Lonnie & Rachel Howard Helms
Survived by SOS (someone special) her Loving Husband, James Patrick “Jim Pat” Barrett of 39 years; Daughter, Regina Gulley, Sons, Russel (Deborah) Gulley, Ronald Gulley; GrandChildren, Christian Parvin (Andrew) Hays, Richard (Julia) Parvin, Shelbie Renae Gulley; Great GrandChildren: Maddox, Emma, & Levi Hays, Rachel & Brian Parvin

Her Education included: Rock Springs Elementary, Pleasant Grove Elementary and Junior High and she was a Graduate of HHS Class of 1962.
Her Former Employers were: VJ Elmore, A&P Grocery Store, Substitute Teacher at the Jefferson County Board of Education, Marks Fitzgerald Furniture Company, First Alabama Bank and retired from Regions Bank after 17 years.

Children were a true love of her life- and so was the teaching of God, his son Jesus and bible, and above all do unto others. She was a very active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church for 20 years, she was a very hands-on member of Cottage HiIl Baptist Church for 43 years. She then became a member of New Faith Baptist Church from 2006 to the time of her passing. At NFBC she worked with children and taught Sunday School & Children’s Church. As a Baptist Committee Lord’s Supper, Home Bound and nursing home ministry and choir member. She was very liked, compassionate about helping others in their apex community. When she saw a need she took the bull by the chain to make it happen. She would go the extra mile for any stranger or kin.

Visitation will be Monday, August 24, 2020 5:00 PM-7:00 PM at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Rock Springs Cemetery in Blount County.
