Samuel W. Dowdle Jr.

Samuel W. Dowdle, Jr, age 75, of Hueytown, Alabama went home to be with the Lord on December 4th, 2018. Sam served his country proudly as a Sergeant Major (RET) in the U.S. Army National Guard. He served his community as a member of the Virginia Mines volunteer fire department and retired from U.S. Steel after 40 years as a pipe fitter. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and was a Master Mason at the F & AM Masonic Lodge of Hueytown, Alabama. Sam was preceded in death by parents, Samuel Dowdle, Sr. and Kathleen; sister, Judy Owens. He is survived by his wife, Judy; son, Thomas Wesson; daughters, Elaine (Blake) Redman, Ashley Blanchard, Christi (Angie) Waters; nephews, Jeff and Jim; grandchildren, Sariah (Ootie), Colby, Tyler, Ethan, Emily, Keith, Blair, Rylea; great grandchildren, Kam, Kairi. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home.
