Robert “Bob Ironman” Jones, 61 of Helena, passed away doing what he loved most-living life full throttle. Bob was known far and wide for his sense of adventure, his devotion to family, and his uncanny ability to charm anyone (and anything) he came across.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved father, Robert “Chuck” Jones, and his mother, Lynn Roberson Bates. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 40 years, Deborah Kyle Jones, his daughter, Holly Johnson (Tyler), his son Bobby Jones (LeeAnna), and his four cherished grandkids, Brianna Burgess, Kenslee Jones, Luke Jones, and Logan Jones, who were the light of his life. Bob is also survived by his sister, Amanda Champion (Kyle), Brother, Chris Jones, sister Jackie Garrett, and his niece McKenna Jones, along with numerous other nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A Harley enthusiast through and through, Bob found freedom on the open road, whether cruising solo or alongside his wife, Deborah, and his best friends Johnny and Teresa. He was never one to be slowed down-both by speed limits and life itself. Bob’s heart truly belonged to his grandkids, though. Whether he was cheering them from the stands at their sporting events or embarking on new adventures with them, he was always present, always excited, and always there to remind them to “live life like an open road”.
When he wasn’t riding or spending time with his grandkids, Bob loved camping, being outdoors, and finding new ways to bond with the world around him. His skills as an “animal whisperer” were legendary-whether it was taming an alligator with a marshmallow or having a wild squirrel perch on his knee in the park, Bob was a natural when it came to making friends with all species. People and animals alike were drawn to his warm, genuine spirit.
Bob’s professional life was marked with 29 years of dedication as a Turbo Mechanic for United Turbo and Fuel, where he earned the respect and affection of everyone he worked with. He loved his job and took great pride in his craft, and his colleagues will always remember his infectious laughter and unwavering work ethic.
Bob lived life full of joy, laughter, and a lot of adventure. He was a son, a brother, a father, a PawPaw, and a friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, laughter, and living life to the fullest will never be forgotten.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 12:00 PM where we’ll share stories, laugh at his wild adventures, and toast to a life well-lived. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the start of service. Pastor Jonathan Collett officiating.
Ride on, Bob. The open road is waiting for you.
