Patricia Ann Hoven
April 18, 1948 - May 18, 2020
Patricia Ann Hoven passed away, peacefully, surrounded by her family, on May 18, 2020 in Birmingham, Alabama. Pat was born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky to Lucille Rittenberry Hampton and Lonnie Hampton. She had the sweetest soul and was loved by all who knew her. She fiercely loved her family and she especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren who affectionately called her “Maw Maw.”
Pat was full of life. She loved to travel and was always ready for an adventure. Cruising around the Carribean with her friends and family was one her favorite annual trips. She admired all of God’s creations, but had a particular fondness for plants, flowers and animals. She enjoyed watching birds and feeding ducks with her grandchildren. Pat loved spending time with her friends and family around the holidays. Chiefly, she loved Christmas and Christmas decorations. Pat adored all types of music. Her favorites included country music, Christian music and Elvis. Not only did she like to listen to music, she often sang along (quite loudly and enthusiastically).
Pat was a true clown! She loved to laugh and she loved to make others laugh. She relished a good practical joke. She enjoyed purchasing and giving “gag” gifts, if she thought the recipient would get a chuckle.
Pat had an amazing heart and she loved to buy meaningful gifts for her family and friends. Additionally, it wasn’t unheard of for her to buy gifts for perfect strangers.
Toward the end of her life, she was faced with some very tough health issues, which she valiantly fought as best as she could. Now, she is healed and is at peace with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Harvey Ray “Stan” Hoven and her loving children: Douglas (Lisa) Hoven of Holly Springs, Mississippi; Kathy (Geoff) Eggers of Atlanta, Georgia; Mandy (Chad) Moseley of Homewood, Alabama and Brian (Dane) Hoven of Vestavia Hills, Alabama.
She is also survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Ryann Hoven, Douglas Allen Hoven, Jr. (Tad), Hunter Hoven, Gabriel Hoven, Rylee Hoven, Bowie Brady, Summer Hoven, Douglas Allen Hoven, III, Katie Hoven, John Michael Lee, Grace Lee, Jackson Lee, Sarah Lee, Henry Lee, Alex Ray, Harvey Ray, Woods Ray, Annie Ray, Thomas Hoven and Clark Hoven.
She leaves behind numerous friends in Laurel, Mississippi, Pensacola, Florida and Birmingham, Alabama.
She is preceded in death by her mother (Lucille Hampton), her father (Lonnie Hampton) and her grandson, Joshua Isaias Lee.
