Miriam Rebecca Bagley, a beloved matriarch and cherished figure in her community, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, in Hoover, Alabama, at the age of 90. Born on February 10, 1936, in Alabama, she graced the world with her vibrant spirit and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
For half a century, Miriam and her husband, James Bagley, who shared a blissful partnership for 67 wonderful years, owned and operated Bagley's Florist. Their enterprise flourished, becoming a beacon of beauty in the lives of many, marked by the couple's shared passion and commitment to their craft. Miriam's artistry and warmth were reflected not only in the floral arrangements that adorned countless occasions but also in the hearts of those who entered their shop.
Miriam's familial ties were profound; she loved her family dearly and took immense pride in her roles as mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her devoted husband James Bagley, her daughter, Daphne Bagley Bell, and son-in-law, John Frances. The warmth of her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Krista Kovacik and her husband, Eddie; John Marshall Bell and his wife, Kristen; and John Dillon Bell, who is engaged to be wed to Peyton Bowyer. Miriam's great-grandchildren—John Marshall Bell II, Dorothy Bell, Nora Bell, Bennett Bell, Camdyn Kovacik, Kai Kovacik, and Cash Kovacik—were constant sources of joy and pride in her life, embodying the love she so generously gave to her family.
Miriam is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Margie Rebecca Hollingsworth Guthrie, as well as her brothers, Frank Guthrie and William Guthrie. Their memories live on in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the love that flourished within their family ties.
In celebration of Miriam's extraordinary life, a visitation will be held on March 6, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, both at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home in Pleasant Grove, Alabama. As we reflect on her life, we remember Miriam Rebecca Bagley as a woman who dedicated her existence to her family, her craft, and her community—a legacy of love and beauty that will endure in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.
