Mary Jane Williams

Mary Jane Williams, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, departed this world on July 21, 2026, leaving a deep sense of loss in the hearts of all who knew her. Born on May 15, 1962, in Bessemer, Mary’s journey was woven with compassion, resilience, and a boundless devotion to her family.

Mary’s life was a testament to kindness and strength. She grew up under the caring guidance of her parents, John A. Carroll and Patricia Faye Carroll, whose memory she cherished long after their passing. The values they instilled in her became the foundation upon which she built her own family, together with her late husband, George Williams. Together, Mary and George shared years of love, laughter, and partnership, creating a home filled with warmth.

As a mother, Mary’s embrace was both steadfast and gentle. She poured her heart into the lives of her children: her loving daughter Amanda Kimbrel, and her devoted sons Phillip Barnes (Tyler), Michael Williams, and Timothy Williams. Each one carries forward a part of Mary—her unwavering faith, her courage in the face of challenge, and her generous spirit.

Mary’s delight grew with the arrival of grandchildren: Kaleigh Williams, Mallory Handley, and Marlee Barnes. Her legacy further blossomed with the joy brought by her great-grandchild Teeghan Thompson, whose presence brought a renewed sparkle to Mary’s eyes. She treasured every milestone, every laugh, and every quiet moment spent together, her love serving as a protective thread binding generations.

A loyal sister to John Carroll "Little John" (Stacey) and to the late Peggy Marian, Mary found comfort and connection in the family bonds that spanned decades. Her many nieces and nephews remember her not only as an aunt, but also as a source of unconditional encouragement and care.

Mary’s journey through life was touched, too, by sorrow, with the losses of her parents, her sister Peggy Marian, and her husband George. These experiences deepened her empathy and gave her an extraordinary ability to comfort others in their own times of grief.

As loved ones gather to honor her memory, visitation will be held at Bible Comes to Life, 7258 Johns Road, AL 35006, on July 27, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Her funeral service will follow at the same location at 1:00 p.m., a chance for family and friends to reflect on the enduring light that Mary brought into their lives. Interment will take place at Dogwood Cemetery. Services will be officiated by her pastor, Bro. Phillip Hill.

Mary Jane Williams’ life touched so many in ways both quiet and profound. She leaves behind not only a family bound by love and gratitude, but also an enduring example of grace and devotion. Though her absence leaves an ache in our hearts, her spirit remains ever present in the kindness we extend to one another, just as she taught us.
