Mary Elizabeth Topazi 95, of Pleasant Grove, AL. passed away March 30, 2019. Mary Elizabeth Guastella Topazi, born in Tampa, Florida, February 28, 1924. Mrs. Topazi was a resident of Pleasant Grove and a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Wylam.
Mrs Topazi was preceded in death by her spouse, Gervase E. Topazi; Father, Vincent Guastella; mother, Vincenza Frisco Guastella; brother, Lt. Joseph Guastella and sister, Josephine Costanza.
Mrs. Topazi enjoyed preparing and hostessing all family gatherings, sewing, as well as working on her award winning yard in Pleasant Grove. Mrs. Topazi was a loving and faithful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She will always be cherished by her family, and will be deeply missed. Mrs. Topazi is survived by sons, Jerry E. Topazi, James E. Topazi (Nora); daughter, Patricia A. Topazi Studdard (Phillip); grandsons, Christopher (Stacie) Topazi and Daniel (Jeni) Topazi and great granddaughter, Sophia Topazi; step-grandsons, Jon and David Studdard.
The visitation will be Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 10:00 AM with the Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 AM at St. Stanislaus. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery. Father Vernon Huguley officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials for Mrs. Topazi would be appreciated please send to St. Stanislaus Church, 904 Indiana St., Wylam, AL 35224 or St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The family would like to offer sincere thanks to St. Vincent's Hospice and Healing Touch Caregivers for the comfort and loving care they provided to Mom. Each organization's staff members went beyond our expectations during a very difficult time, and we are truly grateful for their assistance.
