Lucretia Ruth Welch

Lucretia Ruth Welch, 64, of McCalla, Alabama passed away, January 7, 2020, with her family by her side.
She was born to Harold R. Edwards, August 4, 1955 in Birmingham, Alabama. Lucretia was a member of the first graduating class of Pleasant Grove High School in 1973 and received a BA in Social Work from the University of Montevallo in 1976.
She married Michael L. Welch on July 9, 1976 following a friendship dating back to their 1st grade class at Pleasant Grove Elementary School. She is survived by her husband and their four children and spouses: Clint and Denise Welch of Chelsea; Landon and Stephanie Welch of McCalla; Nathan and Amanda Welch of Seattle; and Katelyn and Josh Grant of Washington, DC. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ava Welch, Bronx Welch, Connor Welch, and Madelyn Ellis.
Lucretia valued relationships above all. She demonstrated unshakable Christian faith throughout her life. Her love for her husband, “Mickey”, was complete and unwavering. She made innumerable sacrifices to support her husband, father, children, grandchildren, and friends. We can continue her life’s work by honoring the lessons she shared and living the values she personified.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 1 p.m. with a memorial service beginning at 2 p.m. at Garywood Assembly of God, 2730 Allison Bonnett Memorial Drive, Hueytown, Alabama 35023.
