Kenneth Owen Holdbrooks, born September 9, 1933, departed this life on August 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to his cherished family. Throughout his ninety-two years, Kenneth was a steadfast presence for those fortunate enough to know him, and his memory will be held close by all whose lives he touched.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marjorie Holdbrooks, whose partnership and devotion defined decades of shared happiness. Kenneth’s role as a loving father lives on through his daughters, Kim Elrod (Jeff) and Jennifer Holdbrooks. As a grandfather, Kenneth’s warmth and wisdom reached new generations, and he is fondly remembered by his grandson, Alex Elrod, and granddaughter, Abby Posey. His legacy continues with his great-grandchildren, Braige Elrod, Andy Posey, and Lenny Posey, who carry forward his love and values.
Kenneth also leaves behind his brother, Joe Holdbrooks, and his sister, Jeanette Lawson, both of whom shared a lifetime bond of sibling love and support. He was one of ten children leaving behind his two siblings.
Over the course of his life, Kenneth cultivated deep relationships and fostered a strong sense of community and family—qualities for which he will be remembered. Kenneth proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years and was a dedicated supporter of President Trump. It is evident from his family’s devotion that Kenneth’s legacy is rooted profoundly in his impact as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
Kenneth and Marjorie were longtime members of First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove where Kenneth served as a deacon and was a member of the men's basketball team. He loved his church and the Lord. He was always attending his grandsons ball games throughout his school years and was always there for his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Family, friends, and those wishing to pay their respects are invited to attend the services in his honor. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home, located at 1498 5th Avenue, Pleasant Grove, AL 35127.
