John Walter Mccombs, Sr.

John Walter McCombs, Sr., of Pleasant Grove, passed away on December 1, 2019 at the age of 87. He was a former Deacon and Sunday School teacher of First Baptist Church Pleasant Grove and also was a volunteer with the Food Pantry. He retired from US Steel in Fairfield after 33 years and then worked 20 years at Huffstutlers Hardware in Homewood. He was a 1950 graduate of Hayden High School. He also was an avid gardener. He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Pansy McCombs; his wife of 54 years, Sudie McCombs; and sister, Faye Parker. He is survived by his sons, John W. McCombs, Jr., Terry McCombs, Tim McCombs, Sr. and Jeff (Patti) McCombs; daughters, Deborah (Guy) Anderson and Susan McCombs-Farmer; sisters, Evelyn Hunt and Carolyn Silas; grandchildren, John Farmer, David Farmer, Jordan McCombs, Timothy (Emily) McCombs, Luke McCombs and Kailee McCombs; great grandchildren, Liam and Linken Farmer; and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Patterson Forest Grove Funeral Home from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM with burial to follow in Patterson Forest Grove Memorial Gardens. Rev. Guy Anderson officiating.
