John E. "Johnny" Masters, 78, of Alabaster, formerly of Midfield died December 2, 2018 after a long hard battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents. C.H. and Jemimia Masters; sister, Gail Masters. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Paula Gulledge Masters, Daughter, Jan (Greg) Sims; sons, Eddie (Felicia) Masters, Ken (Tracy) Masters, grandchildren, Laura (Jason) Ledlow, Roy Sims, J.T. Watts, Amy Masters, Henry Masters, Tanner Masters, Maggie Masters; five great grandchildren, Michael Masters, Aiden Masters, Kaelee Masters, Daisy Masters, Nola Ledlow; brother, Clyde Masters; sister, Terri Masters and his furry friend, Jack.
He was a member of Bethlehem Methodist Church for over 60 years where he served on the Board of Trustees. After moving he attended Camp Branch Methodist Church in Alabaster.
He worked in Birmingham for 46 1/2 years in several limb (prosthetics) companies, building legs for many people.
He loved fishing, camping and playing music. He was a member of the Southern Appalachian Dulcimer Club for 30 years, where he served as treasurer, Vice President and President. He loved playing his dulcimer and his upright Bass with friends.

In lieu of flowers make donations to the United Methodist Children's Home.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 1:00 - 2: 00 PM with the funeral beginning at 2:00 PM at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home in Pleasant Grove. Burial will follow in Forest Grove Memorial Gardens. Rev. Tim New and Pastor Eddie Bolen officiating.
