Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Birmingham. He attended Ensley High School and after graduation attended Jacksonville State University. Jimmy had a varied work history. He was the manager of Napko Paint Company, worked at Alabama Gas in the Marketing Department for 25 years, and then NCP Solutions. After retirement Jimmy served as a volunteer with the Shelby Baptist Association working in the Earthly Treasures Thrift Store until health issues prevented him from continuing to serve there.
Jimmy came to know his Lord and Savior at Ensley Baptist Church where his family were active members. After marrying, he and his wife Eddie were members of Central Park Baptist Church then First Baptist Church Pleasant Grove where he taught Sunday School and sang in the adult choir. After moving to Shelby County he became an active member of North Shelby Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School director, choir member and on various committees. Ever the gregarious, quick witted and social person Jimmy organized a group of men from the church whom he dubbed
as the R.O.M.E.O.’s, Retired Old Men Eating Out. Jimmy organized various day trips for the R.O.M.E.O.’s always including plans for a good noontime meal. Jimmy was preceded in death by his father Jesse Aldridge Eason, his mother Jeanette Maxwell Eason and his twin brother who died in infancy Jacky Jones Eason. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Edmeleta (Eddie) Hodges Eason; a son, Mark Howell Eason of Pleasant Grove, Alabama; and a brother, Jerry Wayne Eason of Birmingham, Alabama. Funeral services for Jimmy will be on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home in Pleasant Grove, Alabama. Visitation will be from 1 o’clock until 2 o’clock with the funeral following immediately at 2 o’clock. The Reverend Don Goodwin will be officiating. Private interment will be at Forest Grove Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Alabama Kidney Foundation, 265 Riverchase Parkway East, Suite 106, Birmingham, AL 35244 or North Shelby Baptist Church.
