James R. Glaze

James R. Glaze, age 77, of Bessemer, Alabama, passed away at his home on November 27, 2018. (Major Ret) Glaze was born on February 11, 1941 in Birmingham, Alabama to his late parents CJ and Dorothy Glaze. He was a member Bethel Baptist Church in Pleasant Grove and served his country proudly for over 40 years as an honorable member of the U.S. Army National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve. Prior to his retirement, Bob was a Chief Plumbing, Gas, and Mechanical Inspector with the City of Birmingham. He was a member of the Alabama Association of Plumbing, Gas and Mechanical Inspectors; an honorary member of the Homebuilder's Association; and a member of the International Code Council.
Along with his parents, Mr. Glaze was preceded in death by brother, Jerry Glaze. He is survived by his wife, Daphne Glaze; son Robert Glaze, and daughter-in-law Suzette Glaze; son Michael Glaze, and daughter-in-law Teresa Glaze; daughter Denise Harper, and son-in-law Rob Harper; daughter Darlene Glaze; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; brother Richard T. Glaze, and sister-in-law Vicki Glaze; several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 29, 2018 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church, Pleasant Grove. There will be a graveside service Friday, November 30, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Forest Grove Memorial Gardens. Rev. Rick Cato officiating.
