James Anthony Cruso, a cherished member of his community, departed this world on July 6, 2025, at the age of 59 in Birmingham, Alabama. Born on May 24, 1966, in Massachusetts, James became a beloved figure known for his big-hearted personality and unwavering kindness.
For most of his life, James worked diligently as a mechanic, demonstrating a strong work ethic that was matched only by his passion for helping others. After dedicating nine years to the Tire Shop in Hueytown, Alabama, he enjoyed retirement, but his zest for life never waned.
James was not just a mechanic; he was a lover of life and nature. He found great joy in his family, fishing, relishing the time spent outdoors, where he could connect with the beauty of the world around him. Those who knew him will fondly remember his spirited presence as a bingo caller at the Fairfield American Legion Post 137, where he brought laughter and camaraderie to many.
He leaves behind a loving family who will deeply miss him, including his mother, Nancy J. Cruso; his sons, Michael and Joshua Cruso; and his sister, Lisa Cruso (Paige). He shared countless memories with his best friends, Jeremy, Mike, and Sue, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Additionally, he is survived by his nephew, Anthony Stewart, a multitude of cousins, and his devoted furry friends, Bonnie and Clyde.
Though James is survived by many, he was predeceased by his father, Anthony C. Cruso, and his beloved pet, Butterscotch. His spirit and love will continue to shine through the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
To honor James's memory, a memorial service will be held on July 11, 2025, at Forest Grove Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove, Alabama, starting at 11:00 AM. Guests are invited to celebrate the life of a remarkable man whose kindness touched so many lives.
