Hayes Alexander Gannaway

Hayes Alexander Gannaway, 94 of Bessemer, AL, passed on May 30, 2026. He retired from Jefferson County Water Treatment Plant after many years of service. He was an ordained Deacon and served for 15 yeas as Minister of Music at Vineland Park Baptist Church in Hueytown. He was most recently a member of Baptist Church at McCalla. 

Hayes is preceded in death by is parents, John and Myrtle Gannaway; his wife of 75 years, Etta M. Gannaway; son, Alan Gannaway; and sister, Clarice Wade. He is survived by his children, Steven Gannaway (Teresa) and Susan Lacey; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Patterson Forest Grove Funeral Home from 10:30 AM until the start of service. Funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM with burial in the Patterson Forest Grove Memorial Gardens. Pastor Bill McCall officiating.
