Harold D. Kelly, age 86, was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at his home in McCalla on September 20, 2025. He was a Godly husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and servant. Harold was born March 3, 1939 to the late Jasper Perry and Annie Belle Kelley and was one of nine children.
Harold is survived by his daughters, Lisa Dudley and Kalani Garrett (Brett); 10 grandchildren, Daniel and Annette Thompson, Bethany and Joshua Dudley, Ethan, Evan (Rachel), Emerson (Brianna), Eris Belle, Ellesley Rose and Edaline Claire Garrett; 5 great grandchildren, Brantley, Braxton, Brailee, Matthew, and Cohen Garrett and one sister, Gladys Maddox of Winfield.
Harold was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Marie Kelley, (Mimi); his daughter, Janet Rogers, son-in-law, Ron Dudley, Jr.; parents, Jasper Perry and Annie Belle Kelley; siblings, Ernest Kelley, Edward Kelley, Jackie Kelley, Perry Kelley, Mojean Stamps, Imogene K. Carroll and Martha Stripling.
Harold was known by several names; Brother Kelley, Pastor Kelley, Pastor Harold, Pawpaw, Granddad, and by his loving daughter, Dad. He will truly be missed by those he loved and served through 60 years of ministry. His cakes and cheese biscuits were a regular staple for those he worshipped with and those he visited. His garden and chickens assisted him in his ministry (A Cup of Cold Water).
Harold served in three of the Pentecostal denominations: Pentecostal Holiness Church (Good Shepherd Church), Assemblies of God (Garywood Assembly of God) and Church of God (Metropolitan Church of God) where he was ordained as Bishop. He was inducted into the Fayette County Sports Hall of Fame for Basketball in August 2014.
Celebration of Life Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 27, 2025 beginning at 12:00 PM at Metropolitan Church of God, 2800 Metropolitan Way, Birmingham, Al 35243. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until service time. Burial will follow at Currie Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Hoover.
Serving as pallbearers are Daniel Thompson, Joshua Dudley, Ethan Garrett, Evan Garrett, Emerson Garrett and Ben Thompson (a good friend).
