Frances Donaldson Messina, age 91, of Pleasant Grove, Alabama passed away peacefully July2, 2026. She was born September 26, 1934 in Birmingham, Alabama. Frances attended and graduated from Minor High School and retired as a secretary for American Olean Tile where she worked most of her adult life. 

Frances had a great sense of adventure and loved traveling to destinations like Hawaii and beautiful Florida beaches. She also loved long road trips to Las Vegas. Her passion was spending time with her beloved family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed meeting new people and was always available to help out anyone in times of need.

She was an outstanding cook and loved hosting large family gatherings. Her favorite time of the year was the Christmas season where she enjoyed making everyone feel special and loved.

Frances was preceded in death in both of her parents, Andrew Donaldson and Freda Gilmore, her beloved husband of 49 years, Lewis Messina; sister, Louise Plan and brother Jack Donaldson. Survivors include her three sons, Lance Thomas (Becky), Mark Thomas (David), Jeff Thomas (Wendi); sister, Betty McDonald; brother, Don Donaldson; 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, July 10, 2026 at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home, 1498 5th Avenue Pleasant Grove, Al 35127. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
