Evelyn Louise Knight Peoples was born January 22, 1932, and left for her Heavenly Home on Sunday, October 13, 2019, at the age of 87. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy L. Peoples; Father and Mother, Buren and Bertha Knight, and her sisters, Norma Glenn and Ethelene Lindley. She is survived by her five children: son, Larry (Robin) Peoples of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; daughter Sherrill Linda (Mike) Raney, Hahnville, Louisiana; son, Phillip (Deborah) Peoples of Hueytown, Alabama; son, Donald (Mollie) Peoples, of Adger, Alabama; and daughter, Kathy (Mark) Savelio, of Biloxi, Mississippi. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren who loved her dearly; and 21 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, and her loving brother in law and dear friend, Thomas Ralph Peoples; all of which she loved with all her heart!
She grew up in Double Springs, Alabama, and married Roy on February 4, 1949, and begin their family. She was an instructor at the Hueytown Beauty School and worked as a cosmetologist having her own beauty salon. She also worked at Self Nursing Home and at Forest Grove Memorial Gardens. She was an active member for many years of the American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary, acting as a chaplain.
She was a member of Concord Highlands Baptist Church, and loved her Sunday School class, but has not been able to attend due to her declining health over the past years. A special thanks goes out to her wonderful friends and sitters; Brenda, Tammy, Annette, Marie, Janet, Christine and Delilah.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 15, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Patterson Forest Grove Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 16th at 11:00 AM in the chapel with burial to follow in Forest Grove Memorial Gardens. Bro. Richard Larson and Pastor Bob Webber officiating.
