Mr. Donald "Duck" Waldon, aged 81 years young passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Viola Waldon; one brother and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-six years Kay (Clark) Waldon and by his son, John A. Waldon; one stepson, Danny J. Clark; one sister, Mrs. Eleanor Jean Jenkins; one dear sister-in-law, Shirley (Leonard) Waldon; and many nieces and nephews. He is also leaving to his wife's care his beloved little chihuahua companion Miss Lady.
Mr. Waldon was a three tour veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from the United States Navy Seabees, Mr. Waldon was a heavy equipment operator.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to AlaCare Healthcare and Hospice and Walker Baptist Hospital ICU care unit for the excellent care and professional service the doctors and nurses rendered.
Extra special thanks from Mrs. Waldon to the following family members who were there when help was needed; Mrs. Juanita Culler, Mrs. Renee Cain and Mr. and Mrs. Buddy and Tammy Sparkman.
Mr. Waldon did not believe in "grave flowers" or "fancy clothes". He asked that when his time came that instead of flowers, assistance to Mrs. Waldon and John be given. Ms. Althea Martin White is handling that for Ms. Waldon. Mr. Waldon asked any who attended his services to come in jeans and shirts..."nothing fancy".
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 with funeral beginning at 11:00 AM at Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home. Burial will follow in adjoining cemetery Forest Grove Memorial Gardens. Officiating service will be Buddy Sparkman.
Mr. Waldon will have a full honors military funeral as befitting a retired warrior of his rank.
