David Edward Spanick, born on January 30, 1955, in Bessemer, Alabama, passed away peacefully in his residence on July 21, 2025. A devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather, David was cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
David was a man of many passions. He and his beloved wife of 48 years, Kay C. Spanick, shared a profound love for NASCAR, often spending weekends captivated by the sport. In addition to their racing enthusiasm, David found joy in hunting and camping, where he created countless memorable moments with family and friends. His dedication to the community was evident through his service as Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America, where he instilled values of leadership and camaraderie in young boys. Moreover, he was an active participant in Hueytown High School's Band Booster program from 1995 to 2000, demonstrating his commitment to fostering the arts in education. David also enjoyed singing in the choir, showcasing his love for music and communal worship.
He is survived by his daughter, Anna Wooten (Chris); daughter-in-law, Jennifer Spanick; sister, Donna Ledbetter (Jeff); brother, Bobby Spanick; as well as his beloved grandchildren, Jillian Spanick, Seth Wooten, Katy Wooten, and Joshua Spanick. Additionally, David is remembered fondly by several nieces and nephews, who were touched by his kindness and wisdom.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Joe E. and Ruby Lovelady Spanick, and his son, Joel Spanick. Their memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of those he left behind.
Visitation for David will be held on July 25, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Both events will take place at the Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home located at 1498 5th Avenue, Pleasant Grove, AL, 35127.
