Mrs. Corrie June Chapin, age 90 of Pleasant Grove, passed away at UAB Hospital on July 5, 2026. June was born in Seminole, Oklahoma on July 15, 1935 to James Vandiver & Corrie Geneva Woods White. She was one of 7 children. Most of her childhood, though, was spent in Fayette, Alabama. After graduating high school, she took a bus to Birmingham and moved in with her sister while taking a job at Union Supply. She always had a special place in her heart for Fayette, but never moved back. Eventually, June went to work at Mutual Savings Credit Union where she worked until she retired after 43 years of service. She cared about her customers and she cared about her co-workers. She made many friends who she has kept in contact with all these years.
June will be lovingly remembered for her love of Jesus, her family, and people. She was faithful to God and in her church attendance. She was always serving wherever she could. She wanted to help people and was very generous with her time and money. Being with her family was her greatest joy and she made sure each family member felt that love. She was always friendly to everyone and made friends wherever she went.
June is predeceased by her parents Vandiver and Geneva White, her siblings, Lavene Owens, Vaniree Moore, Helen White, James White, Preston White and Gravis White. June is survived by her beloved and devoted husband of 71 years, Glenn Chapin; son, David Chapin (Judy); daughter, Glenda Chapin Ryan (Keith); grandchildren, Daniel Chapin (Meredith), Bethany Beck (Tim), Brooke Qualls (Jason), Stacy Parris (Clay) and Megan Johnson (Will); great grandchildren, Olivia, Logan, and Lacey Chapin, Caleb and Connor Beck, Killion and Kyla Qualls and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 10, 2026 beginning at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Patterson-Forest Grove Funeral Home with interment to follow in Forest Grove Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Bro. Timothy Beck, Bro. Rick Yancy and Bro. Joshua Durr officiating services.
