Betty Hamilton Sellers

Betty Lou Hamilton Sellers, born December 11, 1944, in Birmingham, Alabama, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, in Tampa, Florida, at the age of 81.

Betty attended Samford University, where she earned her teaching degree and met the love of her life, William. She dedicated her 30+ year career to teaching English and history at Forest Hills Middle School. Even after retirement, she continued her love of teaching by sharing The Word with preschool children at First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove. She also found great joy in singing in the church choir and sharing God’s love through music.

Betty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Donna Sellers; her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Dr. Jacob Skinner; and her two beloved granddaughters, Malea and Aubrey Skinner. She is also survived by her cherished siblings, Tim Hamilton and family, Eva Julian and family, and Philip Hamilton and family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William D. Sellers II.

Betty’s kind, compassionate, and generous spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. Her love of family, faith, teaching, and music will remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Visitation will be Friday, August 21, 2026 at Patterson Forest Grove Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Funeral service will begin in the chapel at 11:00 AM.  Mr. Ronn Patterson officiating. The family has planned a private interment service.
