Barbara Jean Pierce, 75 of Sylvan Springs, Alabama passed away April 5, 2019. Barbara retired from Jefferson County where she spent many years in the Inspection Services Department. Prior to her time with the County she served as the church secretary at Pleasant Grove Assembly of God.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Frances and Fannie Mae Church; two brothers, Wilford Church and Henry Church. She is survived by her husband, Billy Jack Pierce; children, Lisa Thompson (Tony), Wade Pierce (Jenny), Danielle McKinney (Jared); grandchildren, Candace Scott, Grant Thompson, Jacob Pierce, Mitchell Pierce, Ella Pierce, Garrett McKinney, Jackson McKinney; great grandchildren, Baylee Scott, Kyson Scott, Sara Thompson, Elijah Thompson; sisters, Betty Davis, Charlotte Traweek, Deborah Franks, Tammy Jones; brother, Odies Church and numerous nieces and nephews.
Barbara (Nanny) was known for her relentless prayer life, unconditional love and generosity. By her personal confession of Jesus as Lord and Savior and evidence throughout her life of her faith in Him, there is no doubt that she went home to be in His presence. She possessed a special gift of interceding for others and always displayed a deep motherly love towards her family and all that knew her. Her legacy as a powerful and faithful witness to the good news of Jesus will carry on into eternity.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 9, 2019 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM with the funeral beginning at 1:00 PM at Pleasant Grove Assembly, 611 Pleasant Grove Road, Pleasant Grove, Alabama 35127. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens. Rev. Jacob Pierce and Rev. Lamar Jacks officiating.
