Annie R Walden Profile Photo

Annie R. Walden, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on May 7, 2026, at the age of 81, after a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born on October 7, 1944, Annie called Bessemer home, where she touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Matt and Myrl Russell; her husband, Floyd Walden; her sister, Betty Aaron; her brother, Wallace Russell; and two of her children, Jimmy Walden and Barbara Russell.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Brooks; her loving companion, Rusty Kyle; her sister, Frances Lucas (JD); and her brother, Sam Russell (Rebecca). Her six grandchildren Lee Russell (Jennifer), Keith Brooks (Stevie), Heath Brooks (Krystal), Shane Russell (Ashley), Shannon Bohannon (Alan), and Danielle Swann (Roy), ten great-grandchildren — all of whom knew without question how much she loved them.

Annie had a gift for making people feel at home and a spirit that drew others close. She could light up a room with her warmth, and it was no surprise that everyone who met her loved her. Whether she was laying down a winning hand at Rook, hitting the casino for a little fun, cheering on her beloved Alabama Crimson Tide, or climbing on the back of a motorcycle with Rusty for an open-road adventure, Annie lived with joy and enthusiasm. She treasured every holiday, but Christmas held a special place in her heart. Gathering her family around her was, to Annie, the greatest gift of all.
